Exit Strategy

Exit strategy is a topic that fascinates me in my conversations with business owners. There are two main reasons for this. Firstly, most people I have spoken to do not know how to leave their current situation. Secondly, business owners sometimes fail to recognize that the value of their company is not solely based on the profit and loss statement.

Many small business owners feel trapped because they are either the primary technician or they may oversee all activities in the business. This means that the business’s success relies heavily on the owner’s continued involvement and contributions. Some business owners believe that certain aspects of their company hold value, but they may not be enough to motivate a potential buyer to acquire the enterprise.In either case, having a proper exit strategy can answer a question too often asked too late to be helpful. When developing a long-term strategy for your business, it’s essential to consider how you can increase its value to attract potential buyers.
